Healthy?

Last weekend we talked about how we can live a healthy life.  We all agreed that everyone knows that you have to eat less calories then you expend.  Yet, few of us, have a very difficult time using this formula.  That is because we are missing the other two parts of the formula–our environment and accountability.  If you put yourself in the wrong environment you will do the wrong things.  Have you thrown out the junk food in your pantry yet?  It makes it really difficult to eat if it isn’t near you.  Also, have someone hold you accountable, someone you can share your struggles with and someone who can encourage you in the area of eating and even other areas of your life.  Who is it that can help you with this part of your life?  Include some regular exercise and watch out Richard Simmons!

Keep Moving

Many leaders talk about vision.  Knowing the vision, speaking the vision, casting the vision, and defending the vision.  Yet, what happens, when the vision is blurred?  When you are not sure where you are headed in life or in an organization.  What do we do then?   The answer is simple.  Keep going–no matter the circumstance.  Things become more clear the closer you are to them.  You are not required to know everything, only God knows everything, we are only required to keep moving, and the more you move with Him, the more you will see the will for your life.

Discounts and Markups

discounts-and-markups.jpg

Sometimes, if we are not careful, we discount and markup people’s lives.  How do we do that?  It actually happens very quickly.  We look at a way someone dresses or how they act and we either think that person has “got it together” or “they don’t.”  We mark them up in our mind or we discount them.  When in reality, we have no clue where they are at in life at all.  Be careful not to put a price tag on anyone.

Patience is Underrated

Monday, May 5th, 2008

Slow churned ice cream, homemade bread, or a fine wine all have an element to them that says “taking more time is better.”  Yet, the things we want in life, the things that we want to see happen, we want those things now.  We want it to be like instant popcorn or minute rice.  The best things in life take time and take patience.
