Need Help

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

I went to HEB the other day, and I saw a ton of people in the quick checkout line (10 items or less), but there was absolutely no one in the self checkout line.  I stopped for a little while, waited, and the other lines continued to get worse.  Is there a reason few people go to the self checkout line?

Are you happy?

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Many times during the day it can feel as though you are up and happy one minute and disappointed the next.  How can we be like that zebra above?  I mean, that zebra looks happy!  We have to look at what we are putting our hope in (Rejoice in hope-Romans 12:12 ESV).  Don’t put your hope in your circumstances, because they will always change.  Put your hope in God who is steadfast.  We aren’t a product of our circumstance, but a product of our God.  So smile like that zebra. :)

Do you procrastinate?

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

Many of us get in the habit of procrastinating. Maybe there is something that you have been putting off that you know needs attention.  I am always procrastinating doing the dishes, in fact, if you could pray that a dish would be invented that would clean itself, that would be great… :) Anyway, most of us procrastinate because there is some type of pain or fear that is associated with the task(yes dishes are painful to clean).  I have found, that when I know I don’t enjoy something and know it has to be done it is better to do it at that moment.  The longer we wait the worse it gets.  Get in the habit of doing it immediately and the pain will subside.  Too bad, dirty dishes don’t go away. :)

The Results are in

Monday, May 19th, 2008

Last week we sent out a survey on email and the results were great!  Here were the questions:

Who is your favorite NBA team?

The San Antonio Spurs was the winner on this one.

Have you ever been in a team or work environment where someone was only about themself?

95% Yes

4.5% No

Did you feel more or less likely to contribute when the person was doing things for their own interests?

90.9% Less

4.5% More

Should Kevin wear a fanny pack so that he can keep his phone, wallet, and keys all in the same place?

45.4% Yes

27% No

27% Other

—————————————–

I can’t do it!  I am just not a fanny pack kind of guy (nothing wrong with fanny packs)!  Yet, hopefully, I won’t get in another accident and then lock my keys, wallet, and phone in the trunk.  That and I would probably lose the pack. :)

Yesterday we talked about team and how Jesus created the ultimate team.  I didn’t get a chance to talk about one of the aspects due to time, but wanted to mention the results.  Most of us have worked for or been around someone who was all about themselves, and as you can see the result is mostly negative when that happens.  People are attracted to those that serve others, if you want to feel more attractive today, then serve someone.

Oh, and Go Spurs Go!!!!!

Free Money Management

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

www.mint.com

I know that I mentioned this website one weekend, but I wanted to refer them again.  They offer free (it is paid by the advertisers) personal finance management.  They help you understand where your money is going.  The best part is that you put your information on the front end and they do the rest!  They can also send you texts when you are overspending.  Pretty cool website.

Please pray

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Hey!  Just wanted to let you all know the last couple of weeks I have been working very hard on the curriculum for Imagine Fellowship and the methodologies in how we will grow our web leaders(looking for a new name).  Please pray that it is exactly what God wants!

When life was simpler

Friday, May 9th, 2008

simpler2.png

Do you remember when there was a simpler time?  When your biggest worry was what or where you wanted to play?  Maybe it was a train set or a Barbie doll. Then we grow up, get a job, have to deal with finances. At some point, we lose sight of those simple joys in life.

Remember, when things seem busy, out of control, frustrating, or worrisome, that there was a simpler time and can be now too.  There is freedom when you have a relationship with Christ, not that outside circumstances go away, but that your heart can operate independentenly of your circumstances.  Ask God for a peace that passes understanding today.
