not where you are at, but whom you are with

Friday, April 11th, 2008

Many times I catch myself saying, “We are going to church.” Then I very quickly slap my face and wait for the red mark to subside. We never go to church–we are the church. Too often, we get in the mindset that the church is where we are at, when we should remind ourselves that it is who you are with. Whom you are within Christ and whom you are with your relationships–constantly reaching out to both God and people.

Not where you are, but whom you are with.

Rock Band

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

I walked in to Best Buy today, and was looking for some cables and I passed by the rock band display.  There was a guy there playing and we struck up a conversation about the game.  We ended up talking for about 10 minutes about various things, which was cool, because I had never met the guy in my life.  It made me realize that it takes less than we think to be involved in someone’s life.  Use the circumstances around you to start a conversation–Rock band worked for me.

A new love in my life

Monday, April 7th, 2008

I have been so excited about the church and all that has happened, but I am even more excited about the new love my wife and I have for our boy Asher who was born just 4 months ago.  He just started to recognize our faces and just this morning I “gooed” at him and he did it exactly the way I did it.  I mean exactly, his lips even looked the same.  It reminded me that we all look to something else for an example.  Who are you looking to for your example in life?    Asher likes Mike!  Chilling in the car seat

The band was awesome!

It was our first weekend with the band and they were absolutely amazing!!!  They have been working really hard and it paid off this weekend.  There were also a ton of people serving that have really stepped up big time.  The setting up and breaking down of equipment has been a lot of work and I am so thankful for all that have sacrificed.  Every week gets better and better because of you who have worked so hard.  Thank you.  Oh yeah, and it was our biggest weekend ever–again! :)

your faith test may be nothing

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

Many times, pastors, including myself, talk about how we need to go further, faster, and farther.  Though, if you are wired as an entrepreneur, or a type A-personality, your faith move may be waiting on the Lord.  Sometimes it takes greater faith to wait, then to push in many directions and see which one works.  Remember that God can do more than we can at full speed–and sometimes our “faith move” is to do, well, nothing.
