Huge progress

Monday, March 31st, 2008

It was a great Sunday service!  I actually liked watching before the service than the actual service.  I saw a lot of people setting up the trussing, the projectors, the children’s area, the lounge area, it was absolutely amazing to watch everyone work together.  Thank you so much for all of your hard work!  Remember to continue developing relationships with those that do not yet have a relationship with Christ.  We see new people every week, let’s keep it up!!!

Compassion Fatigue

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

Is there such a thing called “compassion fatigue?” Yes, I simply call it “burnout.” It is very common among counselors, caregivers, and people in ministry.

Generally people want to help, but after a sustained period of time, they become tired and then begin to take on people’s burdens as if they have the responsibility of fixing others. They forget to realize their role in the process of helping. God is the one who grows people relationally, emotionally, and spiritually. We are there only to be a catalyst of that growth. Confusing our roles with God’s turns into compassion fatigue.

Remember God cares more than we do–help people and let God take control.

Tick Tock

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Stuff–you can get back. Time–you can’t. Every second that life goes by, is another that is gone forever. I don’t mean to sound depressing, but it makes you think. “Am I spending quality time, with those things I value most?” Ask yourself that question and see if your time is spent with your top priorities.

The clock never stops: tick…tock…tick…tock.

Awesome weekend!

Monday, March 24th, 2008

It was a great first weekend at our new location! There are so many little details that need to be worked out, but we had our biggest core group meeting yet, 64 people! We are progressing forward and taking every step to launch this thing off in His timing…I appreciate all of you who worked so hard this last week to make it happen, I have already heard a bunch of stories of lives that are already changing and how God is moving. Thank you all!

Beware…

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

Beware of the past. Why do I say this? Often times we glorify the past and take “light” of what is happening right now. We say “what was” is better than “what is.” Beware of this mentality, it often leads to discontentment with your current reality. If you find yourself unhappy, dont look to your past for comfort–look to God!

Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. –The Apostle Paul

More on Our Relational Web…

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

We talked about the relational web last Sunday and on this blog (you can find the previous post by hitting the older entries button), but I wanted to talk about the end goal and what that looks like. The end product will bring thousands of people to a relationship with Christ, friends that you are open and honest with, and people that you can share your life with.

What I love about the relational web is that it fosters personal accountability between individuals. For instance, when your friend is having a bad day, you naturally try to help out and encourage them. Now picture this on a larger scale with thousands of people getting reached that do not yet have this  kind of support. It would look something like this: hang out, attend a Sunday morning service, accept Christ, pray and read the Bible together, find each others strengths, expand their relational web and repeat. (It does not necessarily have to be in this order.)

We are on our way to making this happen!

We may throw the dice…

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

…but the Lord determines the outcome.  Have you ever made plans and it looked like everything was right on track, and then from nowhere you were thrown  a curve ball?  It happens all the time.    It is normal to go through the “roller coaster” of emotions when this happens, but make sure that you come back to center, and realize there are many things in life that are out of our control.  If you stop and think, most things are out of our control.  Yet, we love to fool ourselves into thinking, that we got it “covered.”

So, what do you do in these situations?  Give it to Him, and He will give you rest.  Whatever problem you can’t solve, frustration, or worry that you have–let it go.  He will open the doors for everything–in other words, just chill with Him.
